About the Erickson Foundation

John and Nancy Erickson and their children Mark, Craig, Scott, and Andrea

The Erickson Foundation was established in 1998 by John and Nancy Erickson—and their children Mark, Craig, Scott, and Andrea—as a privately operating foundation dedicated to philanthropy and research.

John Erickson is the founder and former chairman and chief executive officer of Erickson Retirement Communities, a multistate corporation driven to being the nation’s leading provider of moderately priced continuing care retirement living.

The Ericksons have initiated numerous philanthropic endeavors over the years and continue to reach out to and serve many more people through their foundation.

The Erickson Foundation’s educational programs and services cover the entire life cycle:

  1. Children and youth, with a focus on environmental sciences education. (For more details, please visit www.northbayadventure.com to learn more about the operating project NorthBay.)
  2. Undergraduate and graduate students, plus executives studying applied gerontology, the business of aging services, and/or public policy pertaining to aging services. (Please visit www.erickson.umbc.edu  to learn more about the Erickson School at UMBC, which was founded through a grant issued by the Erickson Foundation.)
  3. Whole-person wellness and life planning for pre-retirees, recent retirees, and experienced retirees. (Please go to www.visitpointlookout.com to see the operating project Point Lookout.)

The Erickson Foundation conducts its own research and activities to support its mission. The Foundation also collaborates with selected partners, provides consultative services, and awards a limited number of grants for projects that further the achievement of its mission.
