We collaborate with faculty from professional schools at The University of Maryland in Baltimore and the Center for Aging Studies at UMBC. This helps us contribute substantively to the preparation of future leaders in applied gerontology and related fields. We strive to enable doctoral students to achieve their training goals for leadership careers such as scientist/practitioners, public policymakers, and program directors. These positions could be based in research institutions of higher learning; federal, state, or local governmental agencies; or community-based human service organizations serving older adult populations, their families, and the professionals who support them. We host one to three applied research doctoral students per academic year. Each student has typically worked 20 hours a week with us.
