Baltimore Neighborhoods for All Ages

In 2007 the Aging Affinity Group of the Association of Baltimore Area Grantmakers—in partnership with the Baltimore Neighborhood Collaborative—launched the Baltimore Neighborhoods for All Ages initiative. The intent is to create a sustainable array of services for older homeowners residing in two Baltimore City neighborhoods. The goals of the project include the following:

1. Enhancing community property values.
2. Improving neighborhood stability.
3. Enabling these homeowners to live safely and independently.
4. Improving the integration of older homeowners into the community life of their neighborhoods.

There is a key underlying assumption: Providing home repair or retrofitting services—and supporting the enhanced coordination of health and social services—enables older homeowners to live more healthily and independently. Erickson is one of the local funders of this initiative.
