What our Research and Development Aims to Accomplish

Research Priorities

To align current best practices in active aging and aging with choices, our Foundation’s Research and Development Program always puts these goals first:

  • Understanding the needs, strengths, capacities, and preferences of adults who seek an active lifestyle
  • Encouraging healthy choices by older adults and their families
  • Preserving and possibly enhancing the wellness of mature adults
  • Delaying the onset or exacerbation of disease and disability among older adults—perhaps enabling them to extend their healthy years

Research Mission

Our mission is to be the most trusted name in research and philanthropy for aging and aging-related services. We strive to contribute substantively to the quality, depth, and rigor of initiatives fostered through social entrepreneurship and to always strive for innovation and excellence.

Research Objectives

Our strategic priorities are addressed by:

  • Fostering lifelong partnerships with participants. Research is based on trust, empowerment, and self-determination, with a focus on participant strengths and positive results.
  • Conducting and supporting original research relevant to the attainment of diverse active aging lifestyles.
  • Nurturing meaningful, productive collaborations of long-term value with leading researchers, advocates, and policymakers.
  • Engaging in research that yields socially acceptable, effective, feasible, replicable, and affordable best practices.
