This is an evidence-based demonstration of the added value of a worker-directed safe lifting program. The program is designed to prevent workplace injuries that can result from lifting and transferring physically-challenged residents of skilled nursing facilities. This is an investigation of technologies created to prevent skin lesions caused by in-bed immobility or frequent voiding in undergarments. The goal is also to optimize the allocation of direct care staff to intervene on behalf of residents of skilled nursing facilities. Directed by Giovanni Ortega, Ph.D., of Sabolich R & D.

This is an in-field test of how older adults use electronics in the home that enable rapid communication with distant family members and friends.
